Moving down to Fairy Knowe Backpackers at WILDERNESS

Our next stop was Wilderness and we had booked beds at Fairy Knowe backpackers. The process down would be the reverse of what we did on the way, a shuttle ride down to George and getting picked up by the Bazbus there. Gavin was bringing us down together with another couple and he was sweet enough to allow us to take pictures on the way back. It was a rainy day but the mountain passes were still beautiful to photograph. After waiting a short bit, we got onto the Bazbus and were on our way to Wilderness.

Thanks to a small error, Bazbus was overloaded and a few of us had a chance to visit the Beach house backpackers (www.wildernessbeachhouse.com) before being picked up by the staff at Fairy Knowe. We had an introduction to the place by Annie herself and the location was truly astounding with a commanding view of the sea just ahead. The place however, was fully booked due to a group of students coming by.

Fairy Knowe backpackers (www.wildernessbackpackers.com) was just a short distance away and the charm of the place lies in the fact that it is set within a forest. The two dogs at the place were rather cute and ran around following us as we walked around the place. Despite feeling bad about not being able to stay at the beach house, our mood perked up pretty quickly sitting at the spacious and comfortable bar area, built into a hut, complete with a pool table.

Having a shot with Milou
I particularly liked the ambience of the place, very relaxed and perfect for anyone who liked silence. The facilities were good and surrounded by nature, just beautiful. We signed up for kayaking the next day and the rest of the day was spent just relaxing and unwinding over drinks with an awesome barman, Charl.  We made friends quickly and I got to meet Milou and Loes, after meeting them at Oudtshoorn as well the day before. These two girls from holland were driving down the garden route and we would meet each other again in the days to come.

Over drinks, pool and conversations with newly made friends, the day ended.
